"What're you doing all the way out here, shrimp?" Tanabi looked up at the big cocky cheetah as he paused from his stroll.
"I'm running away, I'm gonna be my own king." He sat down, his chest puffed out.
"Your own king? This must be the little prince fellas." The cheetah grinned.
"Little Prince! Hehehe!" His hyena friend laughed, being promptly shut up by the leapord next to him.
"Not any more- I'm the little King!" Tanabi said, "Dad said I was too little to be king yet, but if I became the king of my dad's pride- my new little brother would be a silly guard leader!" He frowned.
The adult animals looked at eachother, concerned with the cub's childish mindset. But, they could use it to their advantage... "You can't rule a kingdom alone pal, you're gonna need help y'know," The leapord spoke up.
"You're right..." Tanabi's ears perked up, "You guys can help me! We can all be kings together!"
"Kings! Kings!" The hyena chortled.
The cheetah patted his back, "Sure thing kid! No one should have to rule alone..."
When Tanabi was young and his father and mother had another cub on the way, rafiki introduced the idea of a new lion guard. Tanabi heard all the stories about scar from Zira, planting in the idea that Kopa would meet a similiar fate. He ran away, with the goal his brother would get to be the king and that would be that. Zira had been hoping to take Kopa under her wing as the new leader of the guard when he was born, swing him in the 'right' direction, but now as a future king he would just be in the way of an easy takeover..
Tanabi roams the plains now with his adoptive big brothers, Abhi the cheetah, Bhuvan the leapord and Kalan the hyena, rulers of a rogue pride that welcomes all stray lions, cheetahs, leapords, hyenas, you name it. They rule as four kings, known as Tanabi the Feared, Abhi the Clever, Bhuvan the Wise and Kalan the Dim. Tanabi has taken a hostility towards any members of his father's pride, though has taken his time as king to watch over his younger sister when Simba was more focused on Kion.
